🚨 Project Completion Announcement: DSGU Successfully Concludes EORE & NTS Project in Ukraine

We are proud to announce that Danish Support Group Ukraine (DSGU) has successfully concluded the “Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) & Non-Technical Survey (NTS)” project in Mykolaiv Oblast, Ukraine. The project, funded by the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF), marked a significant milestone for DSGU—our first time handling governmental funds.

Tough but Worthwhile: Managing Governmental Funding
Working with governmental funds for the first time was both a challenge and a learning experience. From securing the funding to implementing project activities, we had to overcome several hurdles. The administrative processes, financial reporting, and managing multiple stakeholders were quite demanding. However, we successfully completed the final report and financial documentation, proving our capacity to handle such a large-scale project.

About the Project
The core focus of the project was to deliver Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) and conduct Non-Technical Surveys (NTS) to assess and map land contaminated by mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) such as ammunition, missiles, shells etc. that failed to detonate, in Mykolaiv Oblast. The project aimed to mitigate the risks posed by explosive remnants of war, protecting civilians—especially vulnerable groups like women, children, and the elderly—who are disproportionately affected by such threats.

Despite the challenges, we surpassed our targets, reaching more than 13,500beneficiaries through EORE sessions and completing 22 NTS operations across key areas. This project significantly contributed to the safety of local communities and helped authorities prioritize areas for demining efforts.

Strengthening DSGU for Future Projects
The project’s magnitude pushed us to our limits, but it also provided invaluable insights. To better position ourselves for future interventions, we have expanded our board and strengthened our organizational capacity. With a more robust structure in place, we are ready to take on even more ambitious projects.

As we look forward, DSGU remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s recovery and providing humanitarian assistance where it’s most needed.

And soon we will show you our app-development project, an EORE app we developed to support and educated children and vulnerable groups in Explosive Ordnance Risk Education through gamification 👨‍💻

Thank you to our partners and DERF for making this project possible! 💙💛
