For a long time, DSGU, together with Damasec, have been testing two demining robots prior to their journey to Chernihiv Oblast, where they will be deployed in an area of 2.3 million square meters.
The robots, which later on Thursday evening will be named "Ellemann" and "Lykketoft", have been donated by the Canadian company, ICOR Technology INC, which thus supports our great work in clearing our assigned area of mines and unexploded ordnance.
In the program there will be a short demonstration of the two robots, which can clear/remove mines and, with a water cannon, can shoot detonators.
The background for our presence in Ukraine is that approx. 30% of all fired ammunition does not detonate as intended and thus poses a great danger to the lives and limbs of children and adults. Therefore, DSGU, in collaboration with Damasec and the Ukranian Demining Association (UDA), has set out to do something about it and has thus been assigned an area in Chernihiv Oblast of 2.3 million square meters.
